Advanced Heat Treat Co., located in Waterloo, IA, chose to add on to their facility in the summer of 2018. The original building was not constructed of precast; rather, it was built using split face block. Therefore, it brought on the challenge of matching the new exterior to that of the original facility.

In order to match the existing building, APC used a form liner to replicate the original blocks. This allowed APC to design a template that would be used to recreate the original design of the building. The newer addition was constructed of insulated wall panels in order to create a durable structure and to increase the thermal energy of the interior space. The building showcases the endless possibility of precast and its flexibility to match any construction material.
